Apenao's Avatar: Enter the World In the year 2009, Fubete Sofware started the greatest viral marketing campaign to date. Including web pages, T-shirts and coats, lighters, posters in bus-stops and a 3D film by James Cameron it isn't until TODAY that the secret is finally revealed: A new Zx Spectrum videogame is born. You all have already heard about Avatar. Most of you have already seen the film (if so don't spoil the end, I haven't seen it yet). Wiser people as Mr. Bloodbaz and those people who make the emulators and the cool utilities for the Spectrum and the programmers who makes games and probably the CSS crowd might even have read the book. If so, well, every detail that surrounds the Avatar Universe is present in the game. The game features: - Eleven masked sprites moving at a time. - All the sprites are masked (the whole eleven). - Complex AI algorithm: You'll see people (normal people and the blue people) behaving as they do in the film. - Colorful atmospheric 3D world. - Stunning soundtrack (My PC's sound card is broken, so the main theme was wrote in sign language. I haven't heard it but I guess it may sound stunning). - Full recreation of the Navi (the blue people) language. You'd better learn it because I couldn't be bothered to include subtitles. - Advanced Karma system: Your actions (good or bad) will define how you build your Avatar. - Lots of sprites moving around. And all of them are masked. Awards: - This is the first ever video-game in winning both "Trash Smash" and "Seagull Crap" Prizes. Instructions: -Directional keys are Q-A-O-P for Up, Down, Left, Right -Use the key M to navigate among the icons at the bottom of the screen. -Collect watches to increase the remaining time. Objetives: -You start your adventure in a full working live Universe where a war between Humans and Blue People is taking place. You decide wether or not get involved in the war and for which side. While exploring, a human or a blue people might start a conversation with you. It's extremelly important to read carefully what he has to say, decide your answer and act accordingly. To do so, you'll have to select (with the 'M' key) among the icons at the bottom of the screen. The meaning of the icons is: Small Bomb: Militar Potential of the Selected Civilization. Heart: Overall health of the Civilization. It's affected for both Population and Strength. Crossed Swords: Combat readiness. Speech Bubble: Negotiation readiness. It's affected for both Intelligence and Charisma. -Winning Conditions: You decide which side you take part for (or not to take part for any side). The winner will be the Civilization who scores more points when the time is over, just as it is in the book and the film (well, I guess because I haven't seen the film and I don't know anybody who has read the book beside wise people like Mr. Bloodbaz). -Loosing Conditions: The game has as much endings as you can think of. Just take another route next time and you'll see the result ! -Drawing Conditions: If you manage to score a draw, get in touch with me and I'll invite you to prawns and beer. And finally ... Have fun !
